Transport owners and workers in Chittagong have called an indefinite strike protesting the incident of picking up a transport worker by unknown people who gave their identities as law enforcers.
Chittagong District Road Transport Owners' Association Secretary General Manjurul Alam Manju told the Dhaka Tribune that the strike began at 6pm Thursday and would continue for indefinite period.
He said: “Some people, giving their identities as the personnel of law enforcement agency, picked up transport worker Nurul Islam from his residence at Saltgola in the city on Wednesday morning."
He said they asked police about the detention but they denied detaining the worker.
"The strike will be enforced until the missing transport worker is found," he added.
