Two pedestrians have been killed as a double-decker BRTC bus ran over them in front of the VVIP gate of the Hazrat Shahjalal (R) International Airport in Dhaka.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Airport police station Kamal Uddin confirmed the deaths, reports BSS.
The deceased could not be identified immediately, he said.
"The bus hit them while they were crossing the road here at about 11:30pm on Wednesday,” the OC said.
“They were rushed to Kurmitolla General Hospital where doctor declared them dead in the early hours of Thursday."
A hospital source said the deceased man, clad in white full-shirt and black pant, was about 40 years old while the woman, dressed in a shari, was about 35 years old.
The bodies were sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital at about 9am.
"Police seized the bus and detained the bus driver," the OC added.
A case was filed in this connection.
