Dr M Golam Rahman, Pro Vice Chancellor of Daffodil International University, has been made chairman of state-run news agency Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS).
The government formed the new director board of directors with Rahman, also a teacher of Mass Communication and Journalism department of Dhaka University, as its chief, reports BSS.
The directors of the board are : Abul Kalam Azad, Managing Director and Chief Editor, BSS; Joint Secretary (Press), Ministry of Information; Joint Secretary, Finance Division, Ministry of Finance; Joint Secretary, Ministry of Post and Telecommunications; Tasmima Hossain, Acting Editor, the Daily Ittefaq; Rahat Khan, Advisory Editor, the Daily Bartaman; Imdadul Huq Milan, Editor, the Daily Kaler Kantha; M A Malek, Editor, the Daily Azadi, Chittagong; Liakat Ali, Editor, the Daily Purbanchal, Khulna; and Aminul Islam Mirja, special correspondent, BSS.
The board was formed in line with the section 7 and 8 of the Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Ordinance 1979.
The board will function for three years according to section 6 of the ordinance, said a notification of the Ministry of Information issued Wednesday.
The order will come into effect from Sept 5, 2015.
