Rabiul murder: Miraj to be quizzed at jail gate

A district court has ordered the police to interrogate the prime accused in Rabiul murder case, Miraj, at jail gate.

The court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Boyjoyonti Bishwas Wednesday passed the order, rejecting a seven-day remand plea.

Earlier in the day, IO of the case Babul Akhter produced the accused before the court with a seven-day remand plea.

But, the court rejected it as the accused has already given confessional statement under under section 164 of Code of Criminal Procedure.

However, it ordered the IO to quizz Miraj at jail gate for the sake of investigation.

In his statement on August 6, Miraj said Rabiul had been stealing fish from the area of a canal he used to catch fish.

"I was searching for Rabiul since a few days. I chased Rabiul on Monday midnight and beat him up with a stick. When he tried to flee away, I hit him on his forehead with my torch. Then Rabiul fell down on the ground and I dumped him to a nearby canal," Taltali police station OC Babul Akhtar quoted Miraj.

The floating body of Rabiul Awal, son of Dulal Mridha, was found in a canal on August 5.

Rabiul was a student of Class IV of Farazibari Dakhil Madrasa.
