An indefinite transport strike has begun on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway from Wednesday, protesting the killing of a bus driver.
Sylhet District Road Transport Workers' Union has enforced the strike from 6am, said Selim Ahmed, president of the organisation.
He said: “Agitated passengers beat a driver of Shyamoli Paribahan, Babul Devnath, dead in the capital's Syedabad area around 11pm Monday after he failed to reach the bus stand in due time.
“We called the indefinite transport strike on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway, protesting the murder and demanding punishment of the killers.”
