The madrasa students secured 90.19% pass rate, the highest among all the boards in the result. However, it was 94.08% the previous year.

Students under the Technical Education Board also came out with better results as they secured second position with 85.58% pass rate, a little higher than 85.02% of the last year.

This year, a total of 82,558 madrasa students, including 42,496 male and 31,965 female students appeared in the Alim examination in 418 exam centers across the country.

Of them, 74,461 passed the exam.

However, the number of GPA-5 holders dropped significantly as only 1,435 madrasa students secured the highest grade point, one fourth of 6,025 students of the last year.

From 2,693 madrasas that participated in the exam, 838 came out with 100% pass rate.

Technical board second in GPA-5 ranking

Vocational students secured the second highest number of GPA-5 after the Dhaka Education Board.

A total of 6,430 students obtained GPA-5 from the total number of 98,296 students participated in the exam.

Last year, 6,393 students secured the highest grade point from the board.

A total of 84,125 students from 1646 institutions passed the exam. Among the institutions, 183 confirmed 100% pass rate, which is the second among all the education boards.

Interestingly, no students from the board was absent from any of the exams.

Although the overall result is not positive in terms of pass rate and GPA 5 the good news is the participation of students in the technical education rose, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said at the Secretariat while briefing reporters.

When the Awami League government came to power, the share of technical student was less than 1%, which has now improved and reached 9.25% this year, he said.

“We have emphasised on quality education and therefore trained many teachers from abroad, which was reflected in the result,” said Nahid.
