Seventeen firms have received awards for their immense contributions to boosting productivity and quality of products.
Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu handed over the awards to therepresentatives of the winning firms at a ceremony held at a city hotel yesterday.
The award on National Productivity and Quality Excellence Award-2013 was given for the second time in six categories-large industry, medium industry, small industry, micro industry, cottage industry and state-owned enterprises.
Under large industry category, the awardees are-British American Tobacco Bangladesh Company, Khulna Shipyard Limited and BRB Cables Industries.
In medium category, the firms are-Energypack Electronics, Tamai Knit Fashion and CIBL Technology Consultant.
Under small category, the awardees are-M/S Rony Agro Engineering, PrinceChemical Company, National Tubes, Jamuna Fertilizers Company, Pabna Prince Chemical Company and Resimax Industries of Chittagong.
Award winning micro industries are-Khan Bakelite Products of Dhaka, and BandhanSamajUnnaynSangstha of Sirajganj.
In cottage industry category, the companies are-Odhara Beauty Parlour and Handicraft Training Centre of Dhaka, Pindhan of Kishorganj and GrihaSukhan of Khulna while the state-owned enterprises are-Jamuna Fertilizer Company, AshuganjFertiliser and Chemical Company and National Tubes.
