4 Bangladeshis killed in Saudi mosque bomb blast

Four Bangladeshi nationals were killed and four others were injured in a suicide bomb attack at a mosque in Saudi Arabia on August 6.

A Bangladesh Foreign Ministry press release said this on Sunday, reports BSS.

"The tragic incident happened during Zohr prayers on August 6 at the mosque in the Mohamel Cantonment in Abha under Al-Aseer province of Saudi Arabia," the release said.

The deceased are: Afaz Uddin, son of Nur Nabi of Lakshmipur, Mohammad Jibon, son of Abdul Halim of Comilla, Mainul Mridha, son of Mannan Mridah of Barisal, and Belal Hossain (his details are yet to be confirmed). Of them, the first three were employed as cleaning workers of Al-Yasra Company.

The four injured are: Asaduzzaman, son of Zahir Uddin from Tangail, Nurul Islam, son of Suruj Miah from Brahmanbaria, Khokon Miah, son of Abdur Rashid from Comilla and Md Chan Miah (his details are yet to be confirmed).

According to the release, Chan Miah was critically injured and was shifted to the Central Military Hospital in Riyadh for better treatment while other injured persons are undergoing treatment in the Al-Aseer Central Hospital and they are out of danger.

Representatives from Bangladesh Consulate General, Jeddah, visited the area immediately after the incident, met the victims and contacted their family members and employers as well as other Saudi authorities concerned.

Mortal remains of the deceased will be sent to Bangladesh or will be buried in KSA in line with the desire of the family members of the victims, the release said.

The Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh and Bangladesh Consulate General in Jeddah are constantly monitoring the situation and coordinating with all concerned parties with highest priority.
