Railway Police have arrested a person with 100 tolas of gold from Chandpur Railway Station of the district.
The detainee is Mridul Chondro, 40, son of Junram Dhar of Chittagong.
Railway police station Assistant Sub-Inspector Abul Kalam said: “Acting on a tip off, we conducted a drive at Meghna Express hailed from Chittagong and detained Mridul with 10 gold bars.
“Each gold bars weigh 10 tolas. He was supposed to go to Dhaka by a launch to smuggle the gold.”
Railway OC Osman Goni Pathan said a case has been filed against Mridul under Special Power Act.
He said the detainee will be sent to court on Sunday morning.
