Niladri Chatterjee, 28, son of Tarapod Chatterjee, was from Pirojpur district. He has gone by the name Niloy Chowdhury since renting a fourth floor flat at House 167 in Goran in the capital’s Khilgaon area.
Niloy moved into the flat two years ago, after marrying wife Ashamoni, 32. It is at this address that he was hacked to death yesterday.

He used to write in a secular bloggoing platform named “Istishon” under the pseudonym Niloy Neel, a name he used to run his Facebook page as well.
Niloy was a member of the Bangladesh Rationalists’ Society and, along with his wife, was an active member of Gonojagoron Moncho. Ashamoni is a member of the Jubo Moitri Central Committee.

He completed his Master’s at Dhaka University two years ago.
His neighbours said he worked for an NGO in Pirerbagh in the capital and managed many group pages in his spare time.
