4 die in Munshiganj road accidents

Four people died and 30 were injured in separate road accidents in Munshiganj yesterday.

A Dohar-bound bus of Aram Paribahan fell into a waterbody losing its control at Batatola of Shologhar under Shreenagar upazila at about 1pm. Two people Shamvunath Barman, 35, and Ramiz Ali, 60, died after they were taken to  Shologhar Health Complex. Seventeen people were injured in the accident who received treatment at Shologhar Health Complex in Shreenagar.

Confirming death of two people, Officer-in-Charge of Shreenagar police station Md Mujibur Rahman said: “None could confirm how many passengers were in the bus.”

The bus was salvaged from water, but no more body was found. Police, highway police, RAB, Fire service and civil defence took part in the rescue operation.

In another bus accident in Samashpur area of Shreenagar upazila, an unidentified man, 25, died and 10 people got injured in the morning. In-charge of Hasara police outpost Md Hasan said a bus of Apon Poribahan had fallen into a ditch causing death of one.

 In Louhajong upazila of Munshiganj, a motorbike rider was killed as his vehicle was hit by a pick-up van around 11am. The deceased was identified as Ziaur Rahman.
