The 66th birth anniversary of Sheikh Kamal, the eldest son of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was observed yesterday.
The Awami League and its affiliated bodies placed wreaths at Sheikh Kamal’s portrait on Abahani Club compound in Dhanmondi at 8am. Other party leaders offered prayers at Kamal’s grave at Banani graveyard.
The Swechchasebak League organised a meeting in front of Bangabandhu Bhaban in Dhanmondi.
The Abahani also observed the day of its founder Sheikh Kamal with due respect. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina attended a discussion meeting as the chief guest on the club premises.
The Abahani Supporters Forum offered a doa mahfil and milad mahfil where club Chairman Salman F Rahman, ruling party lawmakers Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, Kazi Nabil Ahmed and others were present.
