“The massacre on August 15 was carried out on a family only, but in the true sense, it was not just on a family"

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said while speaking at a blood donation programme organised by Bangladesh Krishak League on the premises of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum in the city marking the National Mourning Day.

“No discussion was held within the party forum regarding the midterm polls. Even, the prime minister did not discuss the issue with me. The Awami League is preparing for taking part in the polls after five years [in 2019]...under Sheikh Hasina and with the participation of all"

Awami League General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam said yesterday in response to queries by reporters at Tungipara, Gopalganj.

“In the last programme, I said we want election and want to participate in the election. That election should be held under a neutral government. It is clear. But some newspapers has misinterpreted it. Our position did not change. We said clearly that people will not get the chance to cast votes under [Sheikh] Hasina. So election should be held under a neutral government and BNP will participate in that election"

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia made the remarks while addressing a meeting with a delegation of lawyers from Rajshahi district at her Gulshan office on Saturday night.
