It is always humiliating to be bypassed for promotions. Often we wonder what people in charge have in mind. It’s very possible that you were the best person and that you rightly deserved it. You have a choice: you could teach them a lesson and give up your job but if you do not find another job, you risk cutting your nose to spite your face. Or you can remind yourself that you know you are good and it is only your ego that got hurt – and is it worth it to hurt yourself because your ego was hurt? I would concentrate on the knowledge that you are highly qualified and you can work not only under this person but cooperate with him/her. When we cooperate we feel good, energised, time goes by quickly because we use all our intelligence and ability, we feel proud of ourselves. The alternative – fulfilling your duties half-heartedly or with anger towards your colleague and boss – will bring you no joy. In short, pursue self-love: doing one’s best and be happy.
