Five people, including a child, have been killed in a landslide in Lama upazila of Bandarban district.
Two more people are reported missing.
The deceased are Rozeena, 25, Putia, 17, Sazzad, 4, Ameena, 26, and Arafat, 15.
Lama OC Shirajul Islam confirmed the Dhaka Tribune about the deaths in the landslide.
He said: “The residents of the house were all asleep when the incident took place in the hospital area under the upazila around 2am Saturday. Four of them died on the spot while Arafat died while being treated at Lama Upazila Health Complex.”
The OC added that two people - Bashir, 50, and his granddaughter Fatema, 11, – were still missing.
Earlier, the district authorities had asked the residents of seven upazilas living in risky hilly zones to move to safe places.
