The water vessel movement in all internal routers across the country has resumed on Friday as the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) lifted its embargo.
Abul Bashar Majumdar, deputy director (marine safety and traffic management) of BIWTA, told the Dhaka Tribune: “The embargo on vessel movement in the 18 internal water routes has been lifted in the morning as the Met office lowered the danger signal with storm Komen weakening.”
However, the river ports have been advised to lower danger signal number three but instead hoist local cautionary signal number one.

Embargo on the movement of ML type small water transports would also be lifted in the afternoon, said Abul Bashar Majumdar.
In Munshiganj, the vessel movement on Shimulia-Kawrakandi route has resumed in the morning.
Shimulia Naval police outpost In-Charge SI Md Yunus said: “Launch and speed boat service on the route resumed on Friday morning immediately after the authorities withdrew the ban.”
Our Correspondent reported that the ferry service in Chandpur’s Harina ferry terminal has also resumed. Vessels stuck there since Thursday afternoon had left for their destinations.

Ferry movements also resumed on Doulatdia-Paturia route after a day’s suspension.
The authorities Thursday halted transport on all river routes until further notice after the met office issued danger signal number seven for several seaports and coastal districts on Wednesday night.
