The government has a plan to appoint accountants and assistants in all 4,800 unions across the country to expedite the activities of local government institutions, Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) and Cooperatives Minister Engineer Khandker Mosharraf Hossain has said.
He said while speaking at the conference of Deputy Commissioners (DCs) at Public Administration Ministry of Bangladesh Secretariat in Dhaka on Wednesday, reports BSS.
The minister asked the DCs to take necessary steps and projects to dig and re-excavate the water bodies, canals and ponds to preserve water and ensure proper water management.
The government would provide all-out cooperation in this regard, he said.
Replying to a query, he said the government has taken up special progarmmes to develop the rural road communications.
"We have also chalked out a special programme to set up training centres in 250 upazilas to create skilled manpower," the minister said.
