Where does Toru’s vision match that of Kolpokushol’s?
There are multiple reasons why innovations do not go on to become enterprises in Bangladesh. Since ORS and microfinance, there have not been major innovations in our country. Because there is a large knowledge gap that exists. And that is what we’re trying to address – to build capacity of young innovators to pace up with global standard.
That’s why we partnered with Kolpokushol.
What is currently lacking in the system today?
For Innovation, we need the right set of knowledge and skills. Unfortunately in Bangladesh the education system does not nurture these. Despite their interest in making changes in various sectors, the youth is unable to develop marketable products and services – and that is what we aim to address.
What do you aim for the participants to learn from this?
We are trying o instill the idea that innovation is an integrated effort rather than just something done by engineers, and each of these disciplines bring their core competencies to build a product or service.
