PM for DCs contribution to achieve Vision 2021

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has urged the deputy commissioners to play role in the process of making Bangladesh a middle-income country by 2021.

She made the urge while addressing the three-day Deputy Commissioner Conference 2015 at Shapla Hall of the Prime Minister Office on Tuesday morning.

Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the conference around 11:40am. After the inauguration, the premier declared Tk200 crore budget for the development of enclave people's living standard.

The prime minister said: “The government is working with the plan of turning Bangladesh into a middle-income country by 2021 and a developed country by 2041.”

She said the DCs have to play a special role along with the local government to help in the implementation of these plans.

Urging the DCs to work beyond routine work, Hasina said: “Every DC has to solve the problems of their areas and ensure that no one is left landless or homeless.

“The government has implemented several projects like 'Akti Bari Akti Khamar' and residential projects for the purpose and the DCs have to ensure that these facilities reach everyone and do not stay limited to few people.”

The premier also termed Awami League as the only party in the country to be elected twice in democratic way.

The DCs submitted a total of 253 proposals in the conference. Of those, some 25 proposals were submitted to the land ministry while 24 to the public administration ministry.
