DC Conference 2015 begins today

Update : 27 Jul 2015, 07:34 PM

The three-day Deputy Commissioner Conference 2015 will start in the capital today. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the conference at Shapla Hall of the Prime Minister Office at 10am.

In an open discussion, the DCs will exchange views with ministers, secretaries, prime minister’s advisors and other high-ups on issues concerning public interest and field-level administration.

They will also call on President Abdul Hamid tomorrow at Bangabhaban.

Cabinet division sources said the DCs will urge PM to enact two draft laws – Public Service Act 2015 and the Mobile Court Act 2015 – to protect their rights and power.

The laws would give district and executive magistrates more power to punish offenders even in the absence of a confessional statement.

Cabinet Secretary Muhammad Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan said the PM would give DCs the necessary direction to implement government strategies, decisions, policies and programmes at the grassroots level across the country.
