Marking the 103th birth anniversary of Kamal Das Gupta, his son, and Miles vocalist Shafin Ahmed, have performed some great numbers composed by Kamal for a musical TV programme. Titled, Ei Ki Go Shesh Daan, the programme will air today on BTV at 10:30pm.
Along with rendering some of the hit numbers in it including Tumi Ki Ekhon Dekhichho, Swapan, Kotodin Dekhini Tomay, Menechi Go Har Menechi, Duti Pakhi Duti Teere and Ami Bonoful Go. Shafin will be seen sharing some intriguing memory of his father.
One of the most prolific Bengali composers of all time, Kamal has an astonishing 8,000 songs to his credit of which 400 are Nazrul songs, and the rest based on various styles such as Geet and Meera Bhajan; Kabir Bhajan in Hindi; Urdu Naat; Thumri and Ghazals – his standing is incomparable.
