The day 3 game between the Proteas and the Tigers has been halted due to bad light at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong.
South Africa earlier in the day began their second innings positively after dismissing the hosts for 326. The Proteas are 50/0, trailing by 28 runs.
Earlier, the home side began the day energetically with Mushfiqur Rahim trying to get as many runs out of the old ball as possible.
Liton Das scored his first Test fifty and Shakib Al Hasan reached his highest Test score against South Africa, 47.
Mohammad Shahid offered strong support when he took off runs off Harmer's next over, all in boundaries. After belting Philander through cow corner, Shahid tried to slog but Stiaan van Zyl took a good catch at mid-wicket.
In response to the visitors’ 248 runs in the first innings, Bangladesh on Day 2 on Wednesday reached 179 (Tamim Iqbal 57, Mahmudullah 67) for four after 67-over in the opening match.
