'None involved in youth murder over relationship would be spared'

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said any of those who were involved in horrowing murder of a youth over relationship in Gopalganj would be brought to justice.

None of them would be spared, he said.

Kamal was speaking to the reporters after paying homage at the tomb of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Tungipara in Gopalganj on Tuesday afternoon.

The youth, Tuhin Mollah, was maimed to death on Eid day for having a relationship with his cousin in Char Pathalia village of Gopalganj. Rabilul Mollah, Shariful Mollah, Ariful Mollah – brothers of the girl – chopped off both hands of Tuhin Mollah and gouged out his eyes on Saturday night for being in a relationship with their sister. They also cut off both the feet of Tuhin’s father Showkat Akbar Mollah.

The father and son were first taken to Gopalganj General Hospital in critical condition. They were later sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Tuhin died on the way around 2am on Sunday. His father was admitted to NITOR (pangu hospital).

Case filed Tuhin's brother Shahdat Mollah filed a murder case accusing eight to ten person including the girl's brothers and parents with Gopalganj police on Monday night.

OC Zakir Hossain Mollah of Gopalganj police confirmed the filing of the case, saying it a planned murder.

He said before the murder, Layek Mollah, father of the girl, sent his wife and daughter before perpetrating the incident, as per the plan.

Layek and his three sons also fled from the house on the night of the Eid day.

Effort to arrest the killers had been underway, the OC said.
