A man has slaughtered his son and daughter following a family dispute over eid shopping in the district's Chokoria upazila.
The deceased are Jamal Hossain, 6, and Sanjira Begum Moni, 3.
Quoting family members, the police said Abul Kashem, 45, locked in an altercation with his wife Saya Khatun, 35, over eid shopping on Monday night.
At one stage of arguments, Kashem started hacking Saya and her children. Saya managed to flee the scene and called for help.
Hearing the hue and cry, locals rushed in and found the children dead around 3am Tuesday. Later, they captured Kashem and handed him over to the police.
Chokoria police station OC Probhash Chandra Dhar said: “Being informed, the police recovered the bodies and sent those to the morgue.
“His wife has been admitted to the hospital.”
