Robber held with arms in Habiganj

The detainee is Lulu Mia alias Selim Mia, 35. Habiganj sadar police told Dhaka Tribune correspondent: “Acting on a tip-off, we conducted a drive to arrest a gang of robbers who were planning a robbery in outskirt Haripur Khowai River sluice gate around 5:30am. “Sensing our presence, the robbers opened fire targeting us. Three policemen were injured in the incident.” Later, the injured Sub-inspector (SI) Abdullah Al Zahid, SI Rakibul Hasan and constable Yeasin were rescued and taken to the Habiganj Sadar Modern Hospital. At some point Lulu was caught by the police while the rest managed to flee. Habiganj Sadar Officer-in-Charge (OC) Yasinul Haque confirming the detention said: “There are dozens of cases filed against Lulu in seven different police stations of Habiganj district. “Besides, there was an arrest warrant issued in five robbery cases against him,” he added.
