A teenage boy has been killed and seven others have been injured, three of them critically, as a pickup van overturned in Hatirjheel area in Dhaka.
The accident occurred around 12:30pm on Saturday when the pickup van carrying 20 people mostly youngsters turned turtle at a crossing of Hatirjheel, Sub Inspector Mosharraf Hossain of Shilpanchal police station told BSS.
Eight people were injured in the accident, he said, adding that the injured were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where one Sumon, 15, succumbed to his injuries around 7:30 in the evening.
The condition of three others is stated to be critical.
Sumon, son of a vegetable trader Shafiqul Islam, hailed from Sadullapur in Gaibandha district and was a resident of Madhubagh in the capital city.
