Bangladesh is a land of diversity and freshness. River have always had a significant role to play in the emergence of historical civilisations.
The 3,000-year-old civilisation in Bengal has over 700 unique wildlife species, more than 100 dialects, and cuisine with a fusion of over 50 origins, enormous waterway and wetlands which are just a few of the attractions.
Still, Bangladesh is not always the first choice tourist destination.
In mid-2013, Offroad Bangladesh decided to build the first online crowd source-based platform to promote Bangladesh as a prime global destination. This platform had the biggest collection of information on Bangladesh including images and writeups.
Offroad Bangladesh (ORB) team believes it is the perfect web portal for tourists willing to know about the travel and tourism of Bangladesh and get updated with recent activities.
Places, cultures, festivals, history, archeology, wildlife, rivers, religious structures, lifestyle – this portal contains a comprehensive portrait of Bangladesh. One of the key features of this portal is that anyone can add or rectify any information related to travel and tourism in Bangladesh. It is a virtual community where users or travelers can also spontaneously share their travel-related experiences and thoughts.
Offroad Bangladesh's not-for-profit initiative Offroad Bangladesh Club has recently arranged a seminar at the EMK Centre in Dhaka styled “Bangladesh Tourism by Private Initiatives.”
Speakers concluded that Bangladesh lacks branding in the global tourism arena and this is one of the biggest obstacles in the way of the development of the sector.
The Offroad team has participated in several fairs such as the Digital World 2015, E-commerce Fair and bdjobs Fair in an attempt to get tourists and travellers get connected with the platform.
In addition, the team also organised a photography competition and award ceremony to encourage young photographers to capture the diverse beauty of Bangladesh.
Offroad launched their first commercial web portal – www.offroadbangladesh.com – in February 2015. So far, a total of 733 attractions from around Bangladesh have been added to the website which have already drawn 755 registered users.
