Kamal, Yafes, Nurul take oath as ministers

State Minister for Home Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, State Minister for Science and Technology Yafes Osman and Nurul Islam BSc have taken oath as ministers at Bangabhaban, the official residence of the president.

President Abdul Hamid administered the oath at 6:25pm on Tuesday.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived at Bangabhaban around 5pm to join at the oath taking ceremony.

Nurul from Chittagong was made the minister of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment.

Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain was appointed as minister of Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) and Cooperatives.

On Thursday, Awami League General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam has been removed from the ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) and Cooperatives.

This is the first reshuffle of the cabinet after Sheikh Hasina formed a second consecutive government through the national election held in January 5, 2014.

Two more new faces were inducted into the cabinet on Tuesday.

Tarana Halim made her way into the cabinet as state minister for Post and Telecommunication.

Lalmonirhat's MP Md Nuruzzaman Ahmed got the portfolio of state minister for Food.

The reshuffle of the cabinet comes around one year and six months after Sheikh Hasina formed a 49-member cabinet on January 12 following the January 5 national election.

With Tuesday’s shake-up, the number of cabinet members is 52.
