Following the brutal murder of a 13-year-old boy in Sylhet, Bangladesh keeper Mushfiqur Rahim has raised his voice against child abuse.
The cricketer was seen holding a placard that reads "Say no to child abuse." The photo was posted on the official Facebook page of Mushfiqur Rahim on Monday afternoon.
In the post, Mushfiq said there can never be a worse crime than abusing an innocent child to death.
The ill-fated teenager, Sheikh Samiul Alam Rajan, was tortured to death by a group of persons at Kumargaon on the outskirts of Sylhet city around 7:30am Wednesday.
The brutal killing created a stir on social media and drew public hatred.
A 28-minute video, recorded on a mobile phone camera, shows the victim tied to a pole in front of a workshop in the still-closed Sultan Ali Market, beside the Dhaka-Sunamganj road. From the video, it seemed there were five to six men who took part in the barbaric torture.
Informed about the suspect, police went to the spot and took Muhit into custody and recovered Rajan’s body from a microbus. The body was identified by Rajan’s family at the police station on Wednesday night.
