Three suspected robbers have been beaten to death in the district's Hizla upazila.
The deceased are Miraz Molla, Harun Bepari, and Hanif Sardar.
Locals said they chased a robber gang of 10/12 members while they were preparing for robbery at Baherchar village early Monday.
At one stage, they managed to get hold of three robbers and beat them up, leaving them dead on the spot.
Locals claimed that the deceased were the members of local robber gang, Yusuf Bahini.
The gang leader, Yusuf Sardar, was also lynched by the locals on May 17, said Khalilur Rahman, chairman of Barojalia Union Parishad.
Golam Sarwar, Hizla police station OC, said: “Being informed, the police recovered the bodies and seized five local weapons from the spot.”
ASI Bazlur Rashid of the police station filed two cases in this connection.
