Another cocaine bust suspect held

The members of Detective Branch (DB) of Police have arrested another suspect in a case regarding the recent smuggling of liquid cocaine in sunflower oil drums at Chittagong Port.

The arrestee is Mehedi Alam, cousin of another detained suspect in the case Golam Mostafa Sohel, manager of Prime Hatchery Limited which is a sister concern of the alleged cocaine importing company Khan Jahan Ali Group.

The accused was picked up around 4:30pm Sunday from the city's Agrabad area, said Tanvir Arafat, additional deputy commissioner of Detective Branch of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP).

Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (CIID) held three more suspects in the case from Dhaka and Chittagong on June 30.

They were accused in the case lodged with Bandar police station which was being investigated by the DB.

Another accused, Khan Jahan Ali Group Chairman Nur Mohammad, is on the run.

On June 27, the existence of liquid cocaine was found in the laboratory test of the sample collected from the sealed sun-flower oil laden container in Chittagong port.
