'Bangladesh will soon get permanent middle-income status'

Awami League Lawmaker Kazi Nabil Ahmed has said Bangladesh would soon achieve the permanent middle-income status.

He said: “World Bank has acknowledged Bangladesh as a lower-middle-income country. We will soon be recognised as a permanent middle-income country under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.”

The parliament member made the observation while addressing a discussion and Iftar party at the auditorium of Jessore Shilpakala Academy on Friday.

The programme was organised by the Sadar upazila unit Awami League.

Expressing his firm determination to turn the Jessore town into a developed and livable one, he said: “My main aim is to build a developed and livable town for all as I am not only an Awami League lawmaker but also a representative of all Jessore residents.”

He also expressed hope that he would continue the development works with the assistance of people from all walks of life.
