Farmers of Haor areas will get riper, rice planter free of cost for quick harvesting and reducing the cultivation cost, Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury has said.
The minister said this while addressing a press briefing in her ministry conference room at Bangladesh Secretariat on Wednesday, reports BSS.
“The government has undertaken a project of Tk10.60 crore aimed at supplying riper and rice planter to farmers free of cost in Haor areas,” said Matia Chowdhury.
The minister said the government is committed to providing all out support to Haor farmers for minimizing their sufferings in the Boro paddy cultivation season.
The government would supply 275 ripers, one riper in each union and 100 rice planters, one for three unions, under the programme.
She said the government would provide training to 1,980 people, of them 1000 farmers, 420 mechanics/drivers, 500 sub-assistant agriculture officers (SAAO) and 60 agriculture officers.
The purpose of the initiative is to reduce the cultivation cost by using modern tools, reduce cultivation time and increase the earnings of the farmers, she said.
