The cabinet yesterday approved draft of “The Court Fees (Amendment) Act-2015” which adds the provision of e-payment system for court fees.
The existing law allows the court fees to be paid through stamps and cash on receipt only.
“The e-payment system will reduce the hassle for people making payments through stamps or cash,” said Cabinet Secretary M Musharraf Hossain when briefing the reporters at the secretariat.
He said the online payment system will also save the cost of printing, preservation and transportation of the stamps.
If anyone is found guilty of exchanging or selling stamps without license, s/he would be imprisoned for six months and fined Tk50,000, which is currently Tk500 only, added Musharraf.
The cabinet also approved “The Value Added Tax (VAT) and Supplementary Duty Act-2012” where the VAT exemption ceiling has been increased to Tk30 lakh from Tk24 lakh.
