At least 3 fishermen have been killed as a boat capsized in Meghna river at Surjamukhi Khal area under Hatiya upazila in Noakhali.
The deceased are Md Jamal Majhi, 42, Md Abdul Motin, 25, and Md Rakib, 19. All of them are inhabitants of Shunyerchar village under Burirchar union of Hatiya upazila.
Hatiya police station OC Md Nurul Huda said 10 fishermen went to Meghna for netting Hilsha fish early Saturday.
"Their boat capsized in the river due to strong wave and bad weather around 6am," said the OC.
He said seven of them managed to swim ashore but three were washed away.
Jamal Majhi's floating body was fund around 10am. Later police recovered the bodies of Motin and Rakib.
The bodies were handed over to their respective families.
