The activists of Mission Safe Road for Everyone have submitted a memorandum to the roads and bridges minister demanding safe roads for all during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr vacation.
Shamiul Alim Shawon, the initiator of the Rajshahi-based social awareness building organisation, and activist Shubho Thursday submitted the memorandum with the office of district deputy commissioner for handing it over to the roads and bridges minister.
The four-point memorandum requested Minister Obaidul Quader to take effective measures in stopping accidents on highways during the eid vacation, said a press statement.
In the statement, Shawon said: “Every year many people lose their lives in accidents on highways during the eid vacations. We have taken the initiative in order to save the lives of holiday makers.”
The memorandum also urged to tackle problems like traffic congestion and roads and footpath grabbing by vendors during the vacation.
