Amar Desh acting editor free on bail after 3½ years

Amar Desh acting editor Mahmudur Rahman has been released from Kashimpur Jail in Gazipur, three-and-a-half years after he was arrested for running an alleged Skype conversation between a war crimes tribunal judge and a Belgium-based legal expert. He was released on bail around 1:10pm on Wednesday, Kashimpur Jail Super Nasir Ahmed told the Dhaka Tribune. The pro-BNP journalist and former energy affairs adviser to opposition leader Khaleda Zia had been in jail since April 2013.
