A suspected robber has reportedly been killed in a “gunfight” with the members of Rapid Action Battalion in Haidarabadh area of Gazipur.
The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.
RAB did not give any official statement regarding the matter.
However, wishing anonymity, an official of RAB 1 said a group of robbers intersected the microbus of RAB while they were patrolling on Tongi-Kaliganj road around 3:30am Tuesday.
The robbers opened fire at the law enforcers when another microbus of the elite force reached the spot, he said.
In retaliation, the RAB officials fired back that left one of the robbers bullet wounded.
Meanwhile, two RAB officials were injured in the incident.
Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital Residential Doctor Abdus Salam Sarkar said: “RAB officials brought the body of a man in a pickup van and left it at the hospital around 5am.”
“Three bullet wounds were noticed on his body,” he said.
