A Dhaka court has issued arrest warrant against noted film actor Ahmed Sharif in a case filed over cheque forgery.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mustafizur Rahman Monday passed the order as the Bangla film actor failed to appear before his court.
Earlier, the court issued summon against him and asked him to appear before it on June 22.
The court also fixed August 1 for submitting the progress report on the arrest warrant.
On March 5, one Mosharraf Hossain Sumon filed the case.
The plaintiff alleged that the actor gave him a cheque for Tk1.67 lakh. But, the cheque was dishonoured twice—once on May 22, 2014, and later on December 11 the same year.
Sumon sent a legal notice to Ahmed Sharif through his lawyer after the cheque was dishonoured twice. As the actor did not replied to his notice, Sumon filed the case against him.
