A Barisal court has sentenced a person to death for killing his maternal uncle over land dispute.
District and Session Judge Md Anwarul Huq passed the verdict on Sunday afternoon.
The court also fined convict Samrat, 22, Tk10,000. He is at large.
Public Prosecutor Advocate Giasuddin Kabul said: “The convict can file an appeal against the verdict after surrendering before the court within next seven working days.”
Samrat attacked and beat his maternal-uncle Habibur Rahman Molla following altercation over land dispute on May 8, 2008.
Habibur died on the way when he was taken to Barisal Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital.
Habibur's son Sarwar Molla lodged a murder case against Samrat on May 10, 2008.
Investigation Office and also Sub-Inspector Monirul Islam filed the charge sheet against Anwarul on June 26, 2008.
