Kibria murder: Charge framing hearing July 6

A Sylhet court has fixed July 6 for the charge framing hearing in the murder case of former finance minister Shah AMS Kibria.

Sylhet Speedy Trial Tribunal acting judge and also District and Session Judge Monirul Islam Patwary fixed the date on Sunday Morning.

Among the 32 accused, a total of 20 accused including Habiganj Municipality Mayor G K Gous were present in the court.

Speedy Trial Tribunal Public Prosecutor Kishor Kumar Kar said: “Court fixed July 6 for the next hearing. The charge will be framed on the same day.”

Habiganj District and Session Judge Md Atabullah referred the case to the tribunal on June 11.

On June 2, the Judicial Magistrate Court of Habiganj district shifted the case to the District and Session Judge Court.

Former Finance Minister Shah AMS Kibria and five others were killed in a grenade attack during a public meeting in Habiganj on January 27, 2005.

Local Awami League leader Abdul Majid Khan filed two cases with the Habiganj sadar police station in connection to the incident. Of the cases, one was file for murder and the other was filed under the Explosives Act.

Members of outlawed militant group Harkatul Jihad Al Islami, also known as Huji, and several local BNP leaders have been named in the supplementary charge sheets pressed in November last year.
