Three people have been killed and another has been injured as a truck plunged into a roadside ditch at Achhimtala on the Dhaka-Tangail highway in Mirzapur upazila of the district.
Gorai Highway police station OC Humayun Kabir confirmed the deaths to the Dhaka Tribune.
The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately, the OC said.
The accident took place when a Sirajganj-bound CI sheet-laden truck from Keraniganj of Dhaka fell into a roadside ditch in the area, as its driver lost control over the steering wheel early on Wednesday, the police official said.
Three people died on the spot and one received injuries in the incident.
The injured was taken to Mirzapur Kumudini Medical College Hospital.
