Six killed in road accidents in the capital

At least six people including two young boys were killed in separate road accidents in the capital yesterday.

Tarek Hossain, 13, died after being hit by a human hauler around 12:10am. He used to work at Hotel Utshab in Dhanmondi area. Co-worker Billal Hossain admitted Tarek to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) immediately after the incident.

Around 4pm, a five-year-old boy named Ratul died after a pick-up van hit him while he was playing in the street near his house in Gulbagh area. The DMCH on-duty doctor declared him dead after his father Monir Hossain, a plastic product seller, took him there nearly an hour later.

In another incident, Md Foyez, 45, a salesman of Unilever Bangladesh, came under a bus of Turag Paribahan while crossing a road at the Jatrabari intersection around 10am. He died on the spot. Locals took him to DMCH from where his relatives received the body.

Around 5:45am, Md Faisal Hossain Fazal, driver of a bus of Bahan Paribahan, was hit by another bus while he was boarding onto his bus to start a trip. The accident took place in front of Khidma Hospital in Khilgaon area.

Faisal, son of Abul Hossain Sheikh, was a resident of Pallabi area. Locals rushed him to DMCH around 7:15am.

The dead bodies of a male and a female were found on railway tracks in the capital yesterday, but their identities could not be confirmed, said Tongi Railway police camp Sub-Inspector Ali Akbar.

The body of the woman aged around 30 was spotted in Kawla area near Kuril Bishwa Road around 7:50am. The railway police recovered the body and took it to DMCH.

Around 7:30am, locals spotted the body of a man aged around 36 lying beside the railway tracks in the airport area and informed the police.

The woman was wearing a red dress while the man was wearing a black and white shirt, said the SI.
