Attorney General Mahbubey Alam has said Jamaat leader Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid's death sentence would be carried out on the release of the Supreme Court verdict.
Replying to a query on the execution of the verdict, he said: “The state will fix the next course of action once the copy of the full text of the verdict is released.”
He also expressed satisfaction with the Supreme Court judgement that upheld the death penalty to war criminal and Jamaat-e -Islami leader Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid.
While talking to journalists immediately after the appeal verdict of the Jamaat leader, he said: “I am satisfied with the judgement as it has fulfilled the nation’s longstanding expectation.”
A four-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha Tuesday dismissed the appeal petition of the Jamaat assistant secretary general and upheld the death penalty to him.
The SC bench sat at 9am and pronounced the judgement at the beginning of the court’s proceedings as the verdict delivery was on the top of the Supreme Court’s cause list.
