Update : 15 Jun 2015, 10:05 AM

Jamaat-e-Islami leader Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mujahid’s appeal order has been enlisted in Tuesday’s cause list of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court.

A four-member bench of the Appellate Division led by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha is set to deliver it, according to the SC website.

Earlier on May 27, the SC fixed June 16 for delivering its verdict on an appeal filed by the Jamaat leader, challenging his death penalty.

On July 17 last year, International Crimes Tribunal 2 awarded the death penalty to Jamaat leader Mujaheed for committing crimes against humanity during the Liberation War.

He received death penalties in two cases filed for abetting and facilitating the killing of intellectuals during the Liberation War and participating in and facilitating the murder of nine Hindu civilians in Faridpur.

On August 11 last year, Mujahid filed an appeal with the Appellate Division against his capital punishment.

On April 29, the SC started the appeal hearing of the condemned prisoner for committing crimes against humanity during the Liberation War.
