Three robbers have received bullets while four police officials injuries in a “gunfight” in the district's Tala upazila.
The injured ASIs are Pintu Lal Das, Md Akram Hossain,Shahadat Hossain and Prakas Kumar while the robbers are Kalam Sheikh, Saddam Hossain, Zillur Rahman.
The injured have been admitted to the Sadar Hospital.
Tala police station OC Rezaul Islam said: “Acting on a tip-off, the law enforcers raided Magura area of the upazila early Monday when the criminals were preparing for robbery.
“Sensing the presence of the police, the robbers opened fire and hurled crude bombs.”
“In response, the police fired some 15 rounds of bullets, leaving three robbers injured. Four ASI of police also sustained injuries,” added the OC.
The police recovered four crude bombs and six rounds of bullets from the spot.
