A 6-kilometre tailback has occurred on Dhaka-Chittagong highway due to the ongoing repair works.
The tailback occurred on the road in between Shitakunda and Mirsarai upazilas since Sunday night.
Zillur Rahman, Kumira highway police outpost in-charge, told the Dhaka Tribune: “The traffic congestion has been created due to the ongoing repair works at the highway that forced lorries and goods-laden trucks to slow down their speed and ply on one lane.”
“A 20-km tailback was created last night. But the gridlock has started to ease slightly,” he said.
The vehicular movement in the adjacent areas have been severely restricted causing sufferings to the city dwellers.
