For the first time in Bangladesh, a compilation of 101 original tracks hit the market. Labelled by Gaanshala, the album titled “Ek Nirjharer Gaan: 001” is the first installment of a continual initiative of labelling and assembling contemporary Bengali music, which also got unveiled through a performance last Friday at the Celebrity Hall, Bangabandhu International Conference Center.
All written and tuned by Enamul Karim Nirjhar, a total of 43 prominent to new voices have contributed while 11 composers organised the compilation.
In the ceremony, a monologue played by Setu dramatically depicted the struggles of the contemporary musician. The show was interspersed with music videos from Moitry, Leemon, Konal, Gaurob, Sovvota, Moon, Sohini, Taposh and Proma with the album songs.
The artists who have sung for the album include Andrew Kishore, Subir Nandi, Naquib Khan, Shampa Reza, Chandana Mazumdar, Fahmida Nabi, Samina Chowdhury, Hasan Abidur Reza Jewel, Shafin Ahmed, Bappa Majumder, Arnob, Kona, Milon Mahmud, Gausul Alam Shaon, Nobonita Chowdhury, Koushik Taposh, Dinat Jahan Munni, Sohini Alam, Rupam, Konal, Mahadi, Shuvo and Sovvota.
The music arrangements have been done by Foad Nasser Babu, Tanveer Alam Shawjeeb, Rokon Emon, Labik Kamal Gaurob, Nirjhar Chowdhury, Rezaul Karim Leemon, Moon and Arko Sumon.
