President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have expressed deep shock at the death of journalist Habibur Rahman Milon.
In a condolence message, the president said the country has lost a dedicated journalist. "The nation will remember his contribution to journalism."
The president prayed for salvation of his departed soul and conveyed sympathy to members of the bereaved family, BSS reported.
The prime minister, now in London, recalled the contribution of Milon to the development of journalism.
"The nation has lost a guardian of the country's media world at his death," she said in a condolence message.
She also recalled Milon's active and valiant role in the movement protesting the murder of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Journalist Habibur Rahman Milon, also the advisory editor of the daily Ittefaq, died at city's Labaid Hospital early Sunday.
