2 electrocuted in Chittagong

Two persons including a male and female have been electrocuted in two separate incidents in Chittagong city’s Jhawtala and Oxygen area.

The dead were Mohammed Alauddin, 27, and Luna Akhtar, 24, said Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) police outpost’s Nayek Jahangir Alam.

The details of the victims could not be found immediately, he said.

Nayek Jahangir said Alauddin was the caretaker of one Nahar Agro building at Paharika residential area and he came in touch under live electric wire while he was working at the building at around 10am on Saturday.

He was taken to CMCH where the on duty doctors declared him dead.

Meanwhile, a housewife was electrocuted during switching on an electric button in her house at Baluchara area of Oxygen under Baizid police station around 10:20am, leaving her critically injured.

She was whisked off at CMCH where the on duty physicians pronounced her dead later, Nayek Jahangir added.
